The First National Bank of Powhatan Point, Ohio, Charter #7759, 1902 Date Back $10, Choice VF

A great looking note with near-perfect margins and bold, penned signatures from a rare one bank town in Belmont County. One of only a half dozen notes ever offered at public sale, this note is now offered at a substantal discount to its previous price of $1600.

Now part of the Wheeling, West Virginia Metropolitan Statistical Area, Powhatan Point at the time this note was issued was a coal mining town. The name "Powhatan" recognizes the Native American tribe of the same name whereas "Point" refers to the town's location at the point of the confluence between the Ohio river and Captina Creek.
