Washington, DC, Ch.#3425, 1929T1 $20, E007179A, Ch.CU, PMG-63
The National Bank of Washington, District of Columbia, Charter #3425, 1929 Type One $20, E007179A, Choice CU, PMG-63
While not as plentiful as the notes of the Riggs National Bank, this DC issue has survived in numbers sufficient to keep it in the affordable price range, although unlike Riggs only 15 are reported to be in Uncirculated condition. Included in this group are six well preserved notes in a narrow F001xxA range. The standout is Serial Number F007177A, which has been graded Gem-66 and which sold in January, 2017 for $1300.00 The others all have an estimated grade of Choice-63, including our offering of F007179A.
Other than a rather tight left margin, this not has all the other attributes of a Gem note, including strikingly bright color. It represents a premium example from a bank issue wherein the vast majority of all surviving notes exhibit heavy circulation.
